Suggestions that will assist in making the migration easier.
PLEASE DO THIS BEFORE THE SERVER IS MIGRATED TO NEW HARDWARE
Please back up all website data because if any changes have been made recently to your website they might not be included on the new server when the switch over is completed. If they aren't after the server switch you will be able to upload any recent changes to your domain. We also highly recommend you do periodic backups of all data in your account including domains, log files, emails, databases etc. periodically so you have a copy.
THINGS TO LOOK FOR AFTER THE MIGRATION TO NEW HARDWARE
If you are receiving the generic web config error for a particular domain please check the asp.net version in the web options portion of your account. You will find this by logging into your account > web options > asp.net > paper/hammer icon > select version if it is incorrect > submit.
If you are seeing the temporary url which was assigned to a domain when it was added to the control panel. Please check to see if the default page is set. To do this log into your account > web options > choose domain if appripriate > scroll to bottom > check to see if directory indexes is on > if not please turn on and reset default page.
If you have been using virtual directories please reset those. Please log into your account > web options > choose appropriate domain if applicable > in first section choose web directories settings > click on and set virtual directories.
Once the server migration has completed and the new server is available if you are using custom A records at an outside location to point here please update those ip addresses to the new ip address.
If there is anything used which needs to be activated on the server like, zend optimizer, aspimage, etc. and you are experiencing issues please let us know and we will investigate further after the migration has completed.
If you are experiencing a sessions timeout issue please implement cookies to extend the sessions. If after using cookies you are still experiencing issues please enter a ticket and we will assist you further.
Also if you need an upload component, we are using aspupload on the new servers, not aspsmartupload. If you need aspupload installed on the server after it has been fully migrated please enter a ticket.
Please test to see if you need a component installed before entering a ticket because it is possible another customer has already requested this be enabled on the server. Once installed it will be available for everyone.
If you are using a SSL certificate and notice your SSL cert is not working please reinstall the cert to the new server after migration is completed.
If you are entering a ticket regarding any issue please always include the account username; domain; direct link to any error you are receiving; step by step directions to reproduce an issue; any username/password when necessary; a detailed description of the issue.
Thanks
