    Hi there,

I am a newbie to hosting/development and this is my first post so please go easy on me if I say something stupid.  I have just registered my domain and setup a place for it within HSpere.  I can FTP to the correct website directory.  When I FTP on to the server I can see that there are some folders already present in the root directory of the domain (not my account).  Those folders are: "aspnet_client", "AWStats", "cgi-bin" and "cp".  In addition to these there are also 3 files: "dirs", "index.html" and "login.html".

Now, I understand that the "index.html" is basically my main page so when I've designed my own page I can simply overwrite it (I will be developing the site in ASP.NET).  The question I have is which files/folders (if any) can I delete from that directory and which folders must stay (if I could get a little info on each file/folder that would be super).

    Your help is grately appreciated.

    Regards, Faisal

You really don't need any of those folders under most situations. However, the AWStats is used if you want to get your site statistics from Hsphere CP. The cgi-bin directory will only be needed if you have perl scripts or use CGI scripts on your site, since it probably is set up with the execute permissions you would need. The CP directory appears to hold some control panel graphics and whatnot, probably for the themeing of the CP.
